October is National Cybersecurity Awareness month, and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the first campaign launched by the National Cybersecurity Alliance.

• Google Issues Chrome Patch to Address Vulnerability - Google has released a new security patch for its Chrome browser to address a zero-day vulnerability that has been actively exploited. This is the fifth vulnerability Google has patched this year. To update your Chrome browser, please consult our client guide on the topic.

• A Note on Apple's iOS17 - Apple has released iOS17 for its devices. As of now, you do not need to update to iOS17 if you do not want to, but for those of you who do, be sure to give the BlackCloak mobile application permission to access your calendar once the prompt appears. Make sure you give permission for the BlackCloak app to do so, even if you have in the past. By giving BlackCloak the ability to access your calendar, our Malicious Calendar engine will be able to detect any phony calendar invites that may be placed on your calendar by malicious actors.

• "Xenomorph" Malware Targets Android Devices - A strain of malware, called "Xenomorph," is targeting Android users, particularly those belonging to major U.S. banks and those owning crypto wallets.
• Ransomware Group Claims Responsibility for Latest Sony Breach - A ransomware group claims it has stolen information from Sony, but the exact nature of the compromised information remains unknown.
