BlackCloak spent last week at the RSA Conference 2020 in San Francisco, CA. The Conference is a great opportunity to engage with cybersecurity and privacy professionals from around the world. We love bringing back what we learn, distilling it down to concrete actions and applying it to the services we provide. We also give back to the cybersecurity community by leading panels and sharing knowledge. Our CEO, Chris Pierson, is a well-known and in-demand speaker at these events. He made Team BlackCloak proud by leading several events such as the panel, pictured below.

Ring - New Control Center Privacy Dashboard

Ring has rolled out a new Control Center Privacy Dashboard with features to enhance your security and privacy. We recommend you take the following steps:

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account.
Review devices authorized to access your account and remove accordingly.
Review users with access to your account and remove as needed.
Review linked accounts and remove accounts that don't need access.
Set whether to Receive or Deny video requests from local law enforcement.
Review Ring's Privacy Policies so you're familiar with the information they collect, process and share about you.

Ring - Opt out of the Data-Sharing Program

Ring does share your information with third parties. However, the ability to "opt out" of data sharing is newly available in the Ring app. Once you’ve updated your app, here’s how to opt out of Ring’s third-party data sharing:

Open the Ring app.
Go to Menu > Third Party Service Providers.
Scroll down to the “Personalized Advertising” section and and turn off “Personalized Advertising.”

Coronavirus Phishing Scams

Cybercriminals are leveraging the attention around the coronavirus to send fake emails appearing to originate from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO) with information about the virus. In most cases, the emails have been including links that:

direct users who click to fake websites where you are asked to provide personal information, OR
download malware onto your device

Should you receive an email or text related to the coronavirus, stay vigilant. Don't click on links or emails that you are not expecting. Email us if you're unsure.
