If you have Hikvision camera systems installed in your home, you'll want to pay attention. Back in September, Hikvision released a patch to address a security vulnerability that allows cyber criminals to target unprotected devices with malware, which could result in the theft of sensitive information and unauthorized access to internet networks. 

What to Know About the Flaw:

Hackers are now using the "Moobot" botnet to take control of vulnerable Hikvision devices that have not implemented the security patch referenced above. They do not need a username or password to access the device.

What To Do About This?:

• If you're unsure whether you have Hikvision cameras, reach out to your AV company to confirm.
• If you know you have Hikvision cameras, contact your AV company to confirm your Hikvision devices are patched and up-to-date.
• If your devices require the patch, have your AV company apply the patch and contact BlackCloak once completed so we can initiate an out of band scan of your home network.
