The London-based jeweler Graff has fallen victim to a ransomware attack and the hackers behind the incident have started to leak the stolen information on the dark web. The information compromised in the attack belongs to thousands of high net worth individuals, including well-known actors and politicians.
What to Know About the Breach:
The Conti cybercrime gang behind the attack has already leaked 69,000 confidential documents on the dark web belonging to around 11,000 individuals, which allegedly constitutes only 1% of the files stolen, according to the hackers.
The group is demanding tens of millions of pounds in ransom money to stop the further release of sensitive information.
Graff has informed the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office of the breach, and has started to notify affected individuals.
What Data Might be at Risk:
Information stolen in the breach may include customers' names and billing and shipping addresses, as well as client lists, invoices, receipts and credit notes.
What To Do About This?
If you have recently shopped with Graff or received a notice from the jeweler, here are some steps you can take:
Place a fraud alert and a credit freeze on your accounts when appropriate. Be sure to also monitor your credit records. The BlackCloak app can help facilitate these actions, and the BlackCloak Concierge Team can also assist with these services. Scheduling can be done via the Support section of the BlackCloak application, or you can click here to schedule time with a team member.
To avoid future issues with financial information, consider an alternate method of payment outside of your credit and debit card, such as Apple or Google Pay, or a virtual payment card if you are shopping online.
As always, if you have any questions, please let us know by emailing us at ask@BlackCloak.io. We are happy to help!
