Alert #2 - SonicWall Firewall/Network Appliance
What Happened?
Some of our members may have SonicWall equipment in their homes for their firewall and/or networking equipment. Specific SonicWall models may have vulnerabilities that hackers are actively exploiting and there are no patches released to prevent these hacks. (This is called a zero-day attack since it is effective on day zero with no patch.)
What Should You Do?
- If you do not have a SonicWall appliance, then no further action is needed.
- If you do not know, ask your A/V or Home Audio Tech who maintains your equipment what brand of devices are in your home(s). If you cannot figure it out, take a picture of the unit and send it to us.
- If you have a SonicWall Appliance - check to see if it is a SMA 100 Series unit and enable Dual Factor Authentication (or have your provider do this).
- Monitor for updates from SonicWall for when they issue a patch and have your provider apply these updates.
As always, if you have any questions, please let us know by emailing us at ask@BlackCloak.io. We are happy to help!
Thanks!
